HTC Puccini 10 Inch Tablet Unveiled! First Images Here!

The folks of BGR have done it again, unveiling the first pictures of the HTC Puccini 10 inch tablet. This is a mere codename of the tablet and we’ve yet to learn some solid specifications of the brand new device.

This is a more evolved device in comparison to the HTC Flyer, that only used Android 2.3 and a 7 inch display. Puccini uses Honeycomb, an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, stereo speakers and a microphone. Rumors claim that we’ll also see a 1.5GHz CPU inside, as well as HTC Sense UI customization and 4G LTE radio.

Let’s hope that the pricing is right for the slate and the launch should be close enough, considering that Samsung is already launching its own 4G LTE Galaxy Tab this week. What carrier will sell this unit? Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T?

LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Coming to Verizon on July 28th, Priced at $529

Break open your piggy banks, as Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in the 4G LTE version will be coming your way on July 28th. Priced at $529 and selling through Verizon, this model will be available in 16GB and 32GB flavors, with the latter going for $629.

This device ships with Honeycomb 3.1, features a dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU, WiFi, a 10.1 inch 1280 x 800 pixel display and a 3 megapixel camera… that sounds quite strange. Either our source has it wrong, or Samsung is about to make a big mistake. I sure hope that’s an 8 megapixel camera at the back and not a 3MP one.

Anyhow, this slate will come with 3 monthly data plans from Verizon, including a $30 2GB option, a $50 5GB option and a $80 10GB option. As far as speed goes, you get downloads of 5 to 12Mbps and uploads of 2 to 5 Mbps in 4G mobile broadband coverage areas.

Facebook iPad App Details Found Inside the New FB iPhone App; Screenshots Here!

The folks of TechCrunch have made an incredible find: inside the Facebook iPhone app in the latest version there are some hints and details regarding the official Facebook iPad app. Also, they’ve been using this software for a couple of hours and can now provide the needed feedback and screenshots.

The first impression about the app is a very good one and this appears to be the version that’s going to ship. The software is written with HTML5 and the feeling on the iPad is great. The navigation system gets much praise and it’s even better than the one on the iPhone, that’s considered stale even by its maker.

When using the dedicated Facebook iPad app, you’ll rely on a left side menu that’s accessible via button touch or tablet screen flick. You can flip the tablet horizontally in order to make the list of your online friends appear and allow you to chat with them. The photo viewer section is great, looking just like the iPad’s native photo app.

All of these features are found inside a pretty tiny upgrade to the iPhone app, that reaches version 3.4.4 and only restores the Send button for comments and chat among other minor upgrades. With Mark Zuckerberg himself supposedly involved in the development of this application, we’ll probably see something really good coming.

Toshiba Thrive Gets Unboxed, Hands-on Detailed

With the Toshiba Thrive Android 3.1 tablet already launched and selling, it was about time that we saw a hands on and unboxing. This one comes from Android Community, that details the Honeycomb 3.1 slate, available at your local Best Buy store.

Priced at $429.99, $479.99 and $579.99 (8GB, 16GB or 32GB), this model packs a 10.1 inch display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. This screen is based on IPS LCD technology and the devices measures 15mm in thickness, while weighing 771 grams. This is quite a heavy duty tablet and a thick model, almost double the thickness of the iPad 2 and the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

It’s got a 5MP camera at the back, a 2MP one upfront and an unique feature: a removable battery. The case relies in ribbed plastic and at the front we find a glass surface and some chrome accents show where the cameras are. Strangely enough, this model feels like a portrait tablet, if we judge by the logo orientation on the back and the docking port at the bottom.

More details can be found in the hands on video below as well:

iPad 3 Confirmed to Feature Retina Display, According to LG Display CEO

It seems the LG Display CEO has more info about the iPad 3 display than the average mortal… That’s a certain indication of the stage that Apple and LG’s talks are in and Samsung is probably yet again closer to stop working with Apple because of their recent disputes.

The Korea Times is reporting that Young Soo Kwon, LG Display CEO claimed that a number of smartphone makers will launch new models of devices based on LG’s Retina Display. What’s more important, the CEO said that this type of screen is being used on iPhones and iPads. Major oups? Right now this technology is only used on the iPhone 4 and we all expect a new and improved iPad from Apple with a new screen, so this might be it.

Speculations say the iPad 3 could come in September with the iPhone 5 and incorporating a Retina Display on the new slate would truly be a game changer for Apple, that’s starting to lose market to Android tablets. Will the new model be called iPad HD or iPad Pro as we’ve heard?

Tabco Tablet Viral Hits Empire State Building, More Nokia Connections Found (Video)

Tabco have done it again, by posting another viral clip on YouTube and performing an incredible stunt: hacking the Empire State Building to display their website. They also announced that their Tabco tablet is coming on August 15 and once again we remember the Nokia connections they seem to have.

We could be dealing with a MeeGo tablet here, one developed by a new Nokia branch called Tabco. The guys of MyNokiaBlog have even found a solid connection between the two: they share the same address (Vancouver, WA, 98682). Pretty cool, right? Also, the WeAreTabco Twitter account appeared on the web just as the WeAreMaemo one disappeared. Coincidence? Guess not!

During a series of other viral clips, the people who tested the Tabco tablet kept reminding us that this is not an Apple product, or an Android one. HP was also dismissed as well as the BlackBerry PlayBook. Some say that this may be a Motorola viral or maybe one from HP, but in the end there are way too much hints at Nokia’s involvement.

So, mark your calendar with the August 15 date and start dreaming!

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Gets Unboxed – Here’s What the Best Selling Android Tablet is About (Video)

You might be aware of the fact that the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is one of the hottest selling Android tablets out there and trully an appealing iPad rival. The slate runs Honeycomb, sports a 10.1 inch display and has some very interesting accessories, among which there’s a keyboard that turns the device into a sort of netbook.

Inside there’s a dual core CPU and this Android 3.0 tablet can be seen in the unboxing experience below. Inside the box we found a manual, the USB cable and the charger plus adapter. The device seems a bit heavy and its bezel is certainly larger than the one of the Motorola Xoom, that’s for sure.

Other than that we’re dealing with a pretty affordable slate, that costs $400 in some places, undercutting the iPad 2′s price by $500 and the Xoom’s by much more. Sadly, the Eee Pad Transformer doesn’t have a 3G version yet, which we regret very much, but the WiFi only unit is selling well enough to chase away all sorrows.

Google+ Android App Gets Reviewed on Motorola Xoom (Video)

After reviewing the Motorola Xoom here, I thought it was time to take the Google+ Android app for a spin on the device. The software actually looks good on the tablet’s screen and displays all the info one needs to get his/her daily dose of socializing via Google’s service.

There’s even a nice widget that allows you to quickly post a picture, a status or select a photo from your gallery and post it. With this Google+ Android app you can access the Stream of information from the socializing service and see what everyone in your Circles is posting. Once you access a post, there’s the +1 button on the upper right side, if you dig a topic and want to make it popular.

Then there’s the Photos section, where you can view everyone’s pics and avatars. You can comment on pictures and statuses, post new ones, access various links and clips from the Stream and start a Huddle. This one is a burst of communication with more than one contact, in order for you to show people an important matter.

Of course, there’s also the Circles section, with the people you know being separated into groups, such as People at Work, Friends, Acquaintances and more. You can add people to Circles, check out your lists and more.
