LG VS920 Squeezes Through the FCC With LTE Radios [Revolution 2?]

This image has no alt text

Judging from the model number and the fact that it has LTE radios inside, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the LG VS920 – which just passed the FCC – turn out to be the LG Revolution 2. While I wouldn’t say we’re long overdue for a sequel (the LG Revolution isn’t a dated phone by any stretch of the imagination), I wouldn’t mind having a phone similar to the Revolution with a dual-core processor. Perhaps the LG Optimus 2X for Verizon? One can only hope for the time being. Check the listing out at the FCC if you’re curious. [Engadget]

HD Display Coming Soon to a Handset Near You? Devices Rumored from Samsung, LG, and HTC

This image has no alt text

According to numerous rumors popping up around the web, we can expect the next wave of Android handsets to feature displays with higher resolutions than ever before, crossing over into true HD territory for the first time. Devices from at least three manufacturers have been linked to rumors of such high-resolution touchscreens, including the HTC Vigor LG Revolution 2, and two rumored handsets from Samsung.

The HTC Vigor is said to sport a 4.3-inch, 720p HD display on top of a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. It should feature Android 2.3.4 with a revamped HTC Sense 3.5, which we first heard of in conjunction with the HTC Bliss The device is slated for Verizon and for the most part will read as an updated Thunderbolt. It will be joined on Big Red’s airwaves by the LG Revolution 2, a second-generation handset that looks to make a bigger splash than the original with a 4.5-inch HD display coupled with VZW’s 4G LTE network.

In Samsung’s camp, a leaked roadmap is suggesting two devices will showcase HD resolutions in conjunction with Super AMOLED Plus technology. One will be the almost-tablet-sized Samsung GT-I9220, which is said to rock a 720p HD 5.29-inch display, a 1.4GHz dual-core CPU, 8MP camera, and Android Gingerbread. But the one that piques our interest most is the Samsung GT-I9250. Its 4.65-inch touchscreen will run at a 720p HD resolution, though we are more interested in the rumored Ice Cream Sandwich operating system said to be shipping on the device.

We see no reason why these rumors wouldn’t pan out based on the way smartphone tech has been constantly progressing over the past couple of years, though whether or not we see these types of devices this fall is another questions entirely. Take the above information for what you will, but take it with a grain of salt, as we all too often say.

Leaked Verizon Roadmap Outs Launch Dates And Device Names For Android’s Upcoming Heavy Hitters

This image has no alt text

Might wanna grab your diapers folks ‘cuz we have one HUGE Verizon leak for you guys. The above screenshot comes to us from the guys over at IGN and it reveals the names and release dates for a number of Android heavy hitters coming to Verizon in the next few months. Let’s take it from the top:

  • Samsung Stratosphere – This was originally known as the Aegis and seems to be coming with 4G LTE capabilities and Android 2.3. Can we say, “Galaxy S II?” Looks to be launching September 8th.
  • Motorola DROID BIONIC – We pretty know everything there is to know about this device and it looks to be launching on September 8th as well.
  • Samsung Illusion – Original name was the Viper. This is most likely a mid-level 3G phone but with Android 2.3 and launching September 29th.
  • HTC Bliss – This is the girly Android 2.3 phone that comes with a charm that lights up when you have a message. Launching September 29th (w/complimentary butterfly tattoo).
  • HTC Vigor – We’ve been hearing about this phone for awhile. It’s going to take the Android world by force with its 720p display and will be replacing the Thunderbolt (already?) as the premier 4G phone from HTC on Verizon. Launches on October 5th.
  • LG Revolution 2 – Not much is known about this device other than it’s the sequel to the original Revolution. Maybe this time they’ll use a dual-core, perhaps?
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab PS – Nothing is known on this tablet other than it seems to be a new version of the Galaxy launching in November. Maybe this is the smaller 8.9 inch model?

So there you have it folks. As usual, all of these launch dates are subject to change and most likely will. Even if Verizon will be experiencing a bit of a dry spell through August, the rest of the year looks jam packed for the carrier. Now, I’m going to turn this over to you. I want to know how this monster leak will influence your buying decisions for the rest of the year? Bionic? Stratosphere? HTC Vigor? Lets us know in the comments!

HTC Vigor, Droid Bionic and Other Mysterious Devices Outed in Verizon’s Pre-Map List

This image has no alt text

If you were sitting back watching superphone’s like the HTC Sensation and Evo 3D drop on just about every carrier, you possibly may have been wondering where was all the Verizon love? Well, the guys at Droid-Life were able to get their hands on this screenshot of Verizon’s MAP (minimum advertised price) list and there are a couple of big name, heavy hitters being outed.

Of course, we all know the much delayed Droid Bionic (Motorola MOTXT875) is going to be dropping on Verizon soon with its rumored September launch date. We pretty much know everything there is to know about that device and now, it’s just a matter of waiting.

The one wildcard on the list is the ADR 6330VW. Seeing how the silver/white version of the HTC Incredible 2 was leaked earlier today and this device’s model number is so similar to the regular Incredible 2 (6350), we could be looking at the upcoming white Incredible 2.

Making the biggest splash on the list is the HTC ADR 6425LVW, otherwise known as the HTC Vigor This device has leaked its way all over the internets, smashing up NENA benchmarks and showing off its camera capabilites on Flikr. The device is reportedly packing a 1280×720 HD resolution display and one of Qualcomm’s new 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragons. This device sounds so beastly, it’s almost scary (hold me). Looks to me like this could be HTC’s answer to the iPhone 5.

Last on the list is the LG VS920. We have no idea what device this is but given the fact that its model number is so close to the LG Revolution (VS910) I don’t think it would be too far fetched to imagine a revised Revolution. Possibly with a dual-core. Possibly the LG Revolution 2.

Given the nature of MAPs, it should only be used to give us roughly and idea of when something will be released but the fact they are listed, tells us these devices can’t be too far off. While most of the devices listed have been nothing more than pure speculation, hey — sometimes it’s fun to try and predict what’s coming around the corner. Now it’s your turn. You guys still have your heart set on the Bionic? Possibly waiting a little longer for the mysteriously powerful HTC Vigor? Or will you simply pick up the first device that drops?
