Motorola DROID Bionic Bootstrap (Beta, We Think) Now Available

This image has no alt text

As promised, cvpcs has released the Bootstrap application for the Motorola DROID BIONIC that’ll get you the custom recovery you’re looking forward. Considering how recently this device came out we’re not sure it’ll be of much use to typical users right now, but developers are encouraged to download it so they can begin on their own ROMs and other such things. It’s a simple .APK file and works just like the DROID X and DROID 2′s bootstrap apps. It should be noted that this is for the DROIDN Bionic only – trying to use this on a DROID 3 will supposedly wipe your data even if the two devices are very similar. Check out the notes from cvpcs below and hit this link up for the download. [Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

  • This is not an official CWR release. Official CWR releases are signed off by Koush.
  • This will not be on market. I’ll leave that for when Koush makes an official release.
  • This is for BIONIC ONLY.
  • I am not responsible for any loss of data if there are bugs present. I have tested it but that doesn’t mean it’s bug free!

Motorola Droid Bionic Successfully Boots CyanogenMod 7 – Bye, Bye MotoBlur! [Video]

This image has no alt text

CyanogenMod 7 or CM7 as the kids call it, has just shown up on the Motorola DROID BIONIC Popular Android developer @cvpcs tweeted the successful Blur-less bootup today and was even generous enough to include some footage. Check it out:

The Motorola Droid Bionic hasn’t even been out for more than a week and there’s already some great progress being made on it. Keep in mind, this ROM isn’t nowhere near ready for primetime seeing how there are a handful of essentials not working just yet. Things like, no radio (for making calls) or data, device wont charge, no sound and the camera doesn’t work either. For all you Droid Bionic early adopters, I don’t imagine it will be too much longer before all the kinks are worked out and you can finally have your device Blur free.

HTC Runnymede Sense 3.5 ROM Ported to the Desire S

This image has no alt text

While HTC Sense 3.5 has yet to make its official debut, the underground Android dev scene has been busy porting the updated user interface to the currently available lineup of HTC devices. The latest port comes on behalf of the upcoming HTC Runnymede and XDA member proxuser. What we see here is a version of Sense that looks slightly different from the one ripped from the HTC Bliss the first phone found to be running the altered UI.

The Sense 3.5 ROM is in its first release for the HTC Desire S and runs on top of Android 2.3.5. Based around the WWE RUU 0.82.401.1, there are still some kinks to be worked out. The ROM is expected to find its way to other handsets in the near future.

HTC’s continuing to add devices to their bootloader unlock program. This time, four different variants of the HTC Flyer have gotten support, allowing you to break the chains off your 7 inch tablet at the expense of your warranty. Like the Sensation and EVO 3D, the process is fairly simple but be sure to read thoroughly and carefully before proceeding. Head over to HTCDev.com to get started. [Thanks Florin!]

DROID Bionic’s Imminent Custom Recovery Means Imminent ROMs Galore

This image has no alt text

The Motorola DROID BIONIC has been out and has been making its way into the hands of the development community. It didn’t take long for them to get things going, though, as the device has been rooted.

The next big step came yesterday where MyDroidWorld revealed they had a working custom recovery. Unfortunately they have not yet released the recovery but it shouldn’t be too long as the method for installation should be similar to the DROID 3. Be on the lookout here, at Androidforums.com or over at MyDroidWorld for the latest in rooting and ROMing. [Thanks yank!]

Second Honeycomb Leak for Logitech Revue Walkthrough [Video]

This image has no alt text

There has been a second leak of Honeycomb for the Logitech Revue, apparently, and with the leak comes a juicy 8 minute video showing what to expect once the official update comes to the Revue.

If you were worried that the unit wouldn’t be powerful enough to run the update smoothly, guess again. Some have even said this thing runs smoother than the original build.

Video’s above and if you want to apply the leak manually links and instructions can be found here. (Before you go, do make sure you’re on the first leak before updating to this one – you’ll brick the thing otherwise). Anyone else suddenly wanting one of those $99 Revue units? [via Channel Android]

CyanogenMod 7 Alpha Builds Now Available for HTC EVO 3D, Sensation

This image has no alt text

CyanogenMod 7 has been made available in the form of early alpha builds for the HTC EVO 3D and HTC Sensation While the ROMs are only in the early stages — these are the first CM7 public releases for the two handsets — word is that both are stable and functional enough to serve as your daily driver. Those who have used HTC’s unlock tool will have to backtrack a bit, as the ROM requires S-Off for installation on the EVO 3D and Sensation, something the official method does not provide. You can find the new releases over at the XDA links found below.

Oh- and if you’re curious to see how 1080p video is coming along on the Sensation running CM7 check out the video below.

Root and Unroot the Droid Bionic in One Click

This image has no alt text

The Motorola DROID BIONIC has only been out for a couple days, but already an easy-to-use tool has been created allowing for one click root access. Even better, if you ever have a need to return your device to an unrooted state the Pete’s Root Tool allows for that, as well. This actually became available yesterday, but if you already downloaded you’ll want to grab the latest version to gain access to the program’s unroot features. Head over to the RootzWiki link below to download.
