Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab Gets Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread

Good news for Galaxy Tab owners finally: the P1000 slate has just been confirmed to get the Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update. The info comes from Italy, where the update is available through Kies, that brings goodies to the 7 inch Galaxy Tab. Unbranded versions of the device are favored right now.

Carrier-locked ones should follow in the near future, although we’re not sure how near… We remind that Samsung mentioned a while ago that they don’t intend to offer the Honeycomb update on the Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab, so this is probably the best of the updates we can get on the slate. However, there’s always the opportunity to run a customized ROM or use ports on this $350 slate.

Meanwhile, HTC Flyer should get Honeycomb, in case you’re looking for alternatives…
