After the moderate success of the BlackBerry PlayBook on its launch day (when supposedly 45,000 units were sold), RIM might be prepping the 4G version of its BlackBerry tablet. Supposedly, this unit may come in June and a recent note to investors includes RBC Capital Markets General Manager Mike Abramsky’s mention that the tablet sales might exceed expectations.
Abramsky claims that RIM may have increased the order for PlayBook units from its partners by as much as 100%. This could mean that the Canadian company will have a supply of 1.5 to 1.5 million units ready to hit the market in Q2 2011. Big sale estimates are the ones to blame here.
Considering the fact that Motorola sold around 100.000 Xoom units from the moment of launch of the Honeycomb tablet and RIM reached half of that in a single day (once again, supposedly), the performance is pretty decent, don’t you think?
