I’m sure I’ve seen this as a concept someplace else, but here it goes: imagine a tablet and a smartphone that’s inserted in the bigger device. Did you picture it? Well, now here’s the real thing: Compufon. This device allows you to insert a smartphone into a tablet just like you did with the cartridges on the Nintendo GameBoy.
The thing is that these devices depend upon one another, as the processor and storage are on the phone, while the slate section only offers the display and the dedicated battery. Said battery is also able to charge the phone, once it’s attached. There’s also a case in the mix, with a keyboard, making this entire contraption a netbook.
The Compufon packs a 1GHz dual core Tegra 2 processor, 16GB of storage and a 4 inch display with a 960 x 460 pixel resolution. There’s a 5MP camera at the rear and a front VGA camera. Apparently, the OS of choice is Honeycomb and the tablet side of things has a 10.1 inch display prepared for you, its very own front camera, while the handset provides the rear one.
Q4 is when we’ll be seeing the device.
