Samsung Galaxy Tab Receiving Gingerbread Update in Mid-May; Officially Confirmed!

Samsung Galaxy Tab and the whole lineup of Galaxy devices will be receiving the Android 2.3 Gingerbread in the following days, it seems. The info comes from official sources, that also claim the update will be available via Kies, starting with the UK and Nordic countries.

The rest of the world will get the software “according to regional plan” and we wonder if the update only applies to unlocked units, or to every tablet and handset alike. Aside from the Galaxy Tab, Android 2.3 will be arriving on the Galaxy S, Ace, Gio, Fit and Mini handsets. What the upgrade from Froyo brings is faster performance, lower CPU consumption, better graphics, improved copy/paste and a better experience with the device.

Expect Kies to deliver the new software soon and hopefully without the problems that appeared in mid-April when Gingerbread started delivery. We also remind you that Android 2.3 is already available on the 7 inch Galaxy Tab in Italy.
