CES 2011: Nobody mention the Folio
Toshiba, fresh from the "success" of its previous Android-based Tegra 2 device, the Folio 100, is set to unleash yet another tab over in Vegas at CES, although the Folio name is nowhere to be see - we wonder why?
This new tab, which Engadget got up close and personal with (without being able to actually turn it on), will also boast the dual-core Tegra 2 chip, and eventually be rocking "the next version of Android designed for tablets". In other words - Honeycomb.
Like the Folio 100, the new device is also of the 10.1-inch variety - although it does ramp up the specs. The resolution is a HD tipping 1280x800 and it has Adaptive Display technology, which is an ambient light sensor.
There's a 5-megapixel cam at the back and a 2-megapixel one facing, with full sized USB and HDMI ports as well as a mini-USB one and space for an SD card too.
Engadget is stating that the tablet felt nice in the hand due to the EasyGrip (rubberised) material. The back also slips off (so you can go for a different colour) and you can also replace the battery. It weighs in at 770g and is just 15mm thick.
It's coming out in the first half of 2011 and will apparently be competitively priced.
