Till now the disabled users have been quite neglected when it comes to computer control using the eyes. This doesn’t mean that they didn’t have dedicated hardware, but for what price? For example, the accurate Tobbi PCEye goes for $6,900, which is way too much for anyone, disabled or not. Fortunately a group of engineering students might have solved the cost problem.
Brigham Young University students created an eye-tracking Windows 7 slate that costs below $1,500 and allows the user to control the functions of a slate through eye flicks. The system was created in partnership with EyeTech Digital Systems, a company that plans to sell this product internationally, especially in the places where such technologies are not accessible price-wise.
